TV5 is Set to Revolutionize Pinoys’ TV Viewing Habit this 2014

Following the success of its counter-programming strategy in its ‘Weekend Do It Better’ programs and ‘Everyday, All The Way’ primetime block, TV5 continues to do away with traditional television programming this 2014 and dares to be different with its own variety of program offerings for the whole family.

The Kapatid network begins the year with a bang with its daily programs that are both surprising and out-of-the-box. Coming from the success of the daily primetime serye Madam Chairman, Megastar Sharon Cuneta will carry on to the daily tawaserye My Pirated Family. In this series, Sharon will play a one-of-a-kind street-smart woman who cons her way to the world of the rich and famous by putting together a fake family.

Aside from My Pirated Family, Megastar Sharon Cuneta will have her first-ever drama anthology entitled Minamahal. Further, the network will also have a Philippine adaptation of two hit Korean dramas, Baker King and My Fair Lady.

TV5 also dares to offer more than the daily 30-minute teleseryes through providing hour-long dramas that promise to be bold, intriguing and game-changing every Thursday night. Starting this January, Marvin Agustin, Neri Naig, Bianca King and Martin Escudero will star in Obsession, a controversial, cutting-edge medical drama about a woman who undergoes extensive cosmetic surgery to win back the heart of the man she’s obsessively in love with. Meanwhile, highly-acclaimed actress and Kapatid primetime princess Jasmine Curtis Smith stars in a self-titled drama series as a fictional version of herself. In the series, Jasmine encounters a mysterious stalker who becomes obsessed with every detail about her.

Second quarter of 2014 will also be thrilling as TV5 brings the local adaptation of the US hit series Pretty Little Liars to Philippine primetime. Topbilled by TV5 homegrown talents Sophie Albert, Chanel Morales, Stephanie Rowe and introducing Daniel Lee, a group of friends mourn over the death of the leader of their clique, hoping that their secrets go to the grave with her.

The Kapatid network also dares to change Tuesday television programming by offering a new take on its mini-series. Eula Caballero plays a struggling lady taxi driver in the fast and furious romantic comedy, One Of The Boys. Alwyn Uytingco topbills Beki Boxer where he portrays the role of Maneng, a gay boy who has boxing skills that could make him a famous champion boxer. Derek Ramsay and Aga Muhlach team up for the first time in the drama series My Brother’s Keeper where they play brothers who get caught in a sibling rivalry of epic proportions.

A whole new season of reality, game, talk and talent shows also comes to TV5 with more surprises, shake-ups and much more at stake. Aga’s successful game show Let’s Ask Pilipinas gets extended for another season, along with Gelli de Belen and Tintin Bersola-Babao’s social reality talk show Face The People. Well-loved TV5 programs such as The Million Peso Money Drop and Talentadong Pinoy, to name a few, will also make a comeback to the Kapatid network. The network will also launch exciting new game shows, some adaptations from hit foreign game shows and some Kapatid originals. Lucy Torres-Gomez will once again claim her reign on the dance floor as she hosts Celebrity Dance Battle.

The biggest race on Philippine television also returns to TV5 with Derek Ramsay hosting The Amazing Race Philippines: Biyaheng Asya. With a multi-million budget and bigger prizes at stake, the show will once again put together 11 teams who will race hard and race fast for two million pesos.

In addition to all these exciting shows, TV5 will officially launch sixteen (16) original made-for-television movies starring cinemas’ biggest and most iconic stars. Never-before-seen films and ensembles, as well as much-awaited reunions of unforgettable match-ups like Tirso Cruz III and the one and only Superstar Nora Aunor, come together in Studio 5’s 2014 Original Collection.

News5, the news and information arm of TV5, will also launch a series of documentaries exploring the vast wealth of the Philippine islands and the problems we encounter in managing such wealth. From our land resources, water resources to our human resources, Yaman ng Bayan will show viewers the richness of our natural resources, stressing the importance of tapping these natural wealth responsibly. Seasoned journalists led by News5 chief Luchi Cruz Valdez, Head of News5 Operations DJ Sta. Ana, Head of News5 programming Patrick Paez and InterAksyon.com Editor-in-Chief Roby Alampay will also host their first-hand documentaries on iDokyu.

With this remarkable line-up of new shows for the coming year, the Kapatid network breaks the habit of traditional TV to satisfy the modern viewer’s craving for fresh and vibrant entertainment programming. Indeed, those who dare to be different this 2014 should make the switch to the only station that dares to make a difference, TV5.

  2. Ok yan sana lang mas slim si aga ksi acting panalo n siya
