Jessica Sanchez Enthralls Her Filipino Fans with Rendition of ‘Ikaw’ (Video)
The 17-year-old Filipino Mexican staged her first major solo concert on Valentine’s Day, February 14, at the SMART Araneta Coliseum. Her fellow American Idol finalist, Colton Dixon, front-acted for her by singing some songs from his debut album “The Messenger.”
Jessica Sanchez, on the other hand, performed some Valentine tunes like The Fugees‘ “Can’t Take My Eyes Off Of You,” Michael Jackson‘s “Human Nature,” and Beyonce‘s “Love on Top.” She also sang a duet number with Colton Dixon – the Rihanna hit “Love the Way You Lie” – and songs that she popularized on American Idol like Whitney Houston‘s “I Will Always Love You,” Luther Vandross‘ “Dance with My Father” and Jennifer Holliday‘s “And I’m Telling You I’m Not Going.”
But the number that swept the audience off their feet was Sanchez’ rendition of the George Canceco wedding song “Ikaw,” the only tagalog song that she performed at her concert.
