Boracay is Asia’s Top Beach, 6th Worldwide
In the annual Traveler’s Choice of Award Winning Beach Destinations by popular travel website Tripadvisor.com, our very own island of Boracay is voted Asia’s best beach for 2012 and 6th in the world.
Here’s how the website described Boracay:
“At only 4.5 miles long, Boracay is small enough to navigate by rented bicycle or motorbike. But don’t let its small size fool you—you’ll have several excellent beaches to choose from. Yapak Beach is known for beautiful white shells; White Beach has picture-perfect sunsets; and Balinghai Beach is a secluded spot, perfect for honeymooners. As long as you visit during dry season, you’ll agree this is one of the best beach destinations in the world.”
Last year’s no. 1, Provideciales from Turks and Caicos, topped the list once again this year. Boracay was no. 2 last year, however, it slipped to no. 6 this year. Nevertheless, the Philippines’ island paradise is the only beach from Asia to make it in the world’s Top 10 list.
