PNoy to be 1st Asian Leader in YouTube Interview Series

ABS-CBN helps brings historic online interview to the world on November 4.

Philippine President Benigno Aquino III is set to make history as the first Asian leader to be interviewed in the YouTube World View series after world leaders US President Barack Obama, UK PM David Cameron, and Spain PM Jose Luis Zapatero.

ABS-CBN’s News portal will be streaming the event live– via – from the Malacañang Palace November 4, as the world gets the chance to watch at Aquino answer citizens’ questions, and even interact through a live chat session about it.

The World View series, spearheaded by YouTube and Google, gives people opportunity to ask world leaders on topics ranging from education, energy, to global health. It made an online breakthrough as it premiered online in January.

The PNoy interview shall be conducted by Google Moderator Ross LaJeunesse, Director of Public Policy and Government Affairs for Google Inc. in Asia Pacific, and former Deputy Chief of Staff and Senior Advisor to California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger.

The interview will also be shown at a later time at ANC.

Questions – in text or videos – may be posted at YouTube World View’s official website at from October 21 to 28. Netizens then have the option to rank which questions Aquino should answer by voting for a question up or down. Only the top choices or those questions that top the voting will be asked Aquino.

ABS-CBN, as the official Philippine media partner of the YouTube World View, is contributing what is to be another first in this series as it introduces the SMS component in posting questions. Citizens may type ASKPNOYname/location/question and send it to 231 for Smart and Talk N Text subscribers, and to 2331 for Globe, TM and Sun subscribers.

As part of efforts to involve the most number of citizens in public discussions, ABS-CBN will also be offering its trademark online live chat at to give the public the chance to react real time to the President’s answers.

To date, the World View series has featured nearly a dozen world leaders from the USA, UK, Spain, Mexico, and Rwanda. Obama was the first to undergo the series and his interview attracted nearly 800,000 votes on over 14,000 questions and had over 2.2 million page views.
