‘Patrol ng Pilipino’ Follows the Rise of the Azkals in the World of Football

TJ Manotoc witnessed the rise of the Philippine football team called the "Azkals."

The Philippines has always been known as a basketball country. But after the recent success of the Philippine football team Azkals, more and more Filipinos are beginning to pay attention to what is called around the world as “the beautiful game.”

ABS-CBN broadcast journalist TJ Manotoc witnessed firsthand how the members and the staff of the Azkals trained and fought hard to reach the semifinals of the international football tournament Suzuki Cup in Indonesia.

Join him this Tuesday (Jan 18) in “Patrol ng Pilipino” as he unveils the different stories of the soldiers, homegrown athletes, and Fil-foreigners who joined forces and showed determination in order to bring glory to the country.

Meanwhile, Manotoc’s fellow reporter Zen Hernandez patrolled in the streets of Mendiola to cover the student-organized rally against the MRT and LRT fare hikes. It is alleged that the highest MRT fee, P15, could shoot up to P25 should the increase be implemented.

Hernandez raked the South Luzon Expressway and flocks MRT and LRT stations to get the pulse of the masses. How will it affect them in the daily? Will they hold the government to its promise of improved transit services?

Watch out for the stories behind the news in the action-filled reports of the “Patrol ng Pilipino” this Tuesday (Jan 18), after “Bandila” on ABS-CBN.

They had an impressive performance last AFF Suzuki Cup which took approximately 14 or 15 years to happen and I hope this would urge our government to invest also to our sports……..buti pa yung ibang bansa like Bahrain, Kuwait, Jordan, Japan, and Germany cla pa yung sumusuporta sa national team natin tsktsk….

#4 it is revelation that the azkals reached the semi-finals. they beat the last years champion Vietnam in 2-0 fashion that even their coach refuses to shake hands with the victors coach.
and they even notch the 10th top soccer story in sports illustrated in 2010.
you’re so negative and i wonder, are you truly a filipino?
win or lose, we should support our athletes and not mock them.
can you take a look at the mirror and asks this, have i done anything for the country that these athletes had accomplished that made the country proud?

  15. hindi naman cla magaling!! natalo nga, diba????

Marami pang Pilipino na magagaling na hindi nabibigyan ng pagkakataon na mapasama sa Philippine team. swerte lang yang Younghusbands na yan dahil half foreigners sila.
