Comedian Leslie Nielsen has passed away today in hospital in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida after complications from pneumonia.

Nielsen’s agent released a short statement to confirm the news:

We are sadden by the passing of beloved actor Leslie Nielsen, probably best remembered as Lt. Frank Drebin in THE NAKED GUN series of pictures, but who enjoyed a more than 60 year career in motion pictures and television.

Leslie Nielsen is known for his comedic performance in such films as Airplane!, The Naked Gun Series, Spy Hard, the Scary Movie series, and most recently in Superhero Movie and Stan Helsing.
