I received some complaints regarding the postponement of the announcement of the Top 20 Most Beautiful Filipina that it favors some stars to catch up. That if we stick to the December 31, 2006, 12:00 noon deadline, we already have a winner. I also read some comments complaining about some stars receiving multiple votes in just a matter of minutes.

In my earlier post, i mentioned clearly the reason for the postponement and it’s because of the internet bandwidth problem caused by the Taiwan earthquake which hinders a lot of fans to cast their votes and hinders me as well to upload and post the Top 20. 

I must say that the postponement do not favor certain stars as all of them have equal time and opportunity to be voted by their fans. Remember, this is a survey, and our criteria in choosing the 100 Most Beautiful Filipina of 2006 as i always mention is simple: 50% physical beauty, 50% visibility factor. Physical beauty is very subjective. You may find a certain star very beautiful but some people may find her just average. The saying “beauty is in the eyes of the beholder” is certainly true. This is why the other 50% of our criteria is the “visibility” factor meaning it will measure how popular she is and how many fans or admirers does she have.

So to those who complain that this is just a popularity contest and not about beauty well i have news for you. This is indeed a POPULARITY contest. And these stars will not have a large fanbase if they are not good looking inside and out, right?

And to those who complain that certain stars like Kristine Hermosa, Angel Locsin, KC Concepcion and Sarah Geronimo received large amount of votes because their fans are working their ass to cast those votes, well that is exactly my point. If a star has this kind of fans who will support their idol through this poll then she deserves to be in the top spot. 

I read another comment asking why Gloria Diaz, Margie Moran and other beauty queens in the past are not included in the poll. Well this is for the year 2006 and it’s not an “ALL TIME” list. The poll obviously applies to the year 2006 and only “visible”, “hot”, “popular” and of course “beautiful” filipina from Jan-Dec of 2006 may she be an actress, singer, model or an athlete, qualifies for the list. If this is 100 Most Beautiful Filipina of 1974 then Margie Moran and Gloria Diaz will definitely rule the list. If this is All-Time 100 Most Beautiful Filipina then they will surely be included also. But our poll says 2006 so it only applies to that period.   

Our poll have 3 parts: the 100 survey, the top 65 survey and the top 20 survey. We did this to drain hundred of stars and rank them fairly by visibility and beauty. We are not favoring anyone here. Our list is very much diversified with Kapuso and Kapamilya stars. So their fans will put them there, not me. Kung ako lang ang masusunod sana no. 1 na ang favorite ko pero nasa number 6 or 7 lang siya ngayon. From the beginning of our poll until we have the Top 20 poll, you will notice there is a trend forming. The top 3 is getting and getting obvious as we continue the poll.  

So guys, let us accept if our idol is not on the top spot. At least we did our best to put her in the top 20. Let us respect the opinion of others. If Kristine Hermosa received the most number of votes and our idol Angel Locsin is only 2nd then so be it. Or if Angel Locsin is no. 1 and your idol Kristine Hermosa is only 2nd, then so be it again. What matters is that their fans put them there to be no. 1. There’s still 2007 and we can prepare to support our idols for that poll if they didn’t make it in the 2006 poll. That’s life. We cannot ALL be no. 1. There’s equal time and opportunity for everybody. So their popularity depend on their fans.

Finally, i am really astonished with the people’s response to this poll. I created this poll early 2006 just for the fun to find out who is the hottest and most beautiful Filipina and people started voting and posting their comments supporting their idols. Some are even taking this poll very seriously that they will do everything for their idols and i really respect and admire that.  I was really overwhelmed.

Thanks guys! This was a great ride. But now we have to conclude this poll. This is the deadliest deadline, regardless of the internet problem caused by the Taiwan earthquake. We will stop the Top 20 poll at 12:00 midnight tonight, January 2, 2007 Manila time. Results will be posted afterwards. Results are unappealable. Remember that we will add the votes from the Top 100 poll and the Top 20 poll. Don’t worry, i have a copy of the result of the Top 100 poll at the time we started the top 20 poll. Complains are still welcome after the announcement. Lahat naman ng contest may complains after the conclusion di ba. Even the recently concluded Pinoy Dream Academy and Philippine Idol received lots of complains after the winner was announced. Kanya-kanyang idol lang talaga yan.
