Jan Nieto Sizzles in Philippine Idol for the 2nd Straight Week

At first he was considered a "lightweight" contestant who became a "dark horse" but now Ryan Cayabyab has branded Jan Nieto as a serious contender for the title of the first Philippine Idol (together with Mau and Gian) as he wowed both the judges and the audience for the 2nd straight week. Gian's song choice for Jan, You Are My Song, has put him in the spotlight as the lone leader in last night's show. Regrets could be hauntinging Gian right now as his song choice for Jan has put Jan in the lead of the race. >>> SIZZLING HOT <<<

  • Jan Nieto (You Are My Song) - Jan has been among our sizzling hot idol aspirants last week for taking the dance week seriously by shaking his bon bon to the fullest in Ricky Martin's Livin' La Vida Loca. This time, he's in solo lead as he wowed both the judges and the audience with his compeling performance of the Martin Nieverra and Regine Velasquez hit You Are My Song.
>>> HOT <<<

  • Gian Carlo Magdangal (Bakit Pa Ba?) – Gian would be my second best for last night as he made Jay-R’s Bakit Pa Ba his own.
  • Mau Marcelo (Mahal Naman Kita) – Mr. C is right, the lackluster performance of Mau last night is caused by the song choice for her. Mahal Naman Kita turned out to be a boring piece for Mau because it does not suit her voice. Miguel should also be blamed for choosing the song for Mau. Or maybe it’s a strategic move for Miguel.

>>> WARMING UP <<<

  • Pow Chavez (Love Moves in Mysterious Ways) – Although Pow’s rendition of this song is way better than Pinoy Dream Academy scholar Michelle Bond’s version, it was a little boring in a sense that there’s nothing new about her style. It was just safe for me. Although the make-up worked for her.

>>> BOTTOM TWO <<<

  • Miguel Mendoza (Hanggang) – Among the six, Miguel’s performance didn’t register in my mind. Mr. C figuratively told Miguel’s supporters that if they really love Miguel and they don’t want him to get hurt, they know what to do.
  • Ken Dingle (Everything I Do I Do It For You) – Nice song but i have to agree with DJ Mo, Ken was virtually everywhere last night. He wasn’t able to hit the high notes despite the efforts.
