Strong Women Take Charge this April on HBO GO and HBO

Women’s month is officially over but HBO GO offers more movies and shows inspired by leading ladies who have a mind of their own and aren’t afraid to stand their ground on HBO GO and HBO.

Made for Love

Tracy McConnell (Cristina Milioti), aka The Mother in the hit series How I Met Your Mother, is back in the upcoming comedy series that is a darkly absurd and cynically poignant story of love, divorce and technology in Made for Love with three episodes premiering same time as the U.S. on Thursday, 1 April at 3:00pm exclusively on HBO GO followed by three episodes and two episodes on the subsequent two Thursdays.

It follows Hazel Green, a thirty-something woman on the run after 10 years in a suffocating marriage to Byron Gogol, a controlling tech billionaire. Soon she discovers that her husband has implanted the Made for Love chip in her brain, allowing him to track, watch, and know her “emotional data” as she tries to regain her independence. Through the chip, Byron is able to watch Hazel’s every move as she flees to her desert hometown to take refuge with her aging widower father Herbert and his synthetic partner, Diane. Emma

The classic Jane Austen novel gets a remake headed by Anya Taylor-Joy, portraying the smart and wealthy Emma Woodhouse as she uses her wits and charm to match-make couples, resulting in romantic missteps, in Emma which will premiere on April 10, Saturday, at 9:00pm only on HBO GO and HBO.

Along the way, she muddles through the challenges of growing up, including her own attempts at finding true love. Stars Anya Taylor-Joy, Johnny Flynn, Bill Nighy, Mia Goth, Miranda Hart and Josh O’Connor.

The Nevers

After the Regency-era of England, let’s catch an alternate Victorian-era London in the upcoming HBO original series The Nevers which premieres Monday, 12 April at 9:00am exclusively on HBO GO and HBO. A new episode premieres every subsequent Monday.

In Victorian-era London, a group of people known as the ‘Touched’ are individuals – mostly women – who manifest a wide range of abnormal abilities, from charming to disturbing. Among them, Amalia True, a mysterious, quick-fisted widow, and Penance Adair, a brilliant young inventor, emerge as champions of this new underclass. Together, they make a home for the Touched while fighting the forces that oppose their existence. This brand-new HBO Original series stars Laura Donnelly and Ann Skelly.

Mare of Easttown

Kate Winslett is back as a small-town Pennsylvania detective as she investigates a murder while her life is falling apart in the upcoming HBO limited series The Mare of Easttown which will premiere on Monday, 19 April at 10:00am exclusively on HBO GO and HBO with new episode premiering every subsequent Monday.

Her efforts reveal the dark side of her close-knit close community and prompts her to examine how family and past tragedies can define the present. This HBO Original limited series stars Kate Winslet, Julianne Nicholson, Jean Smart, Evan Peters and Guy Pearce.

Superintelligence

HBO Max Original movie Superintelligence premieres on Saturday, 24 April at 9:00pm exclusively on HBO GO and HBO.

The mundane life of Carol Peters is turned upside down when she starts getting snarky backtalk from her TV, phone and microwave. She thinks it’s all a complicated prank but the truth is she’s been selected for observation by the world’s first superintelligence, with a plan to take over the world. The Handmaid’s Tale Season 4

Women shall rise against Gideon in the fourth season of The Handmaid’s Tale with three episodes premiering on April 29, 6:00pm, only on HBO GO with new episodes premiering subsequently every Thursday.

In this upcoming fourth season, June strikes back against Gilead as a fierce rebel leader, but the risks she takes bring unexpected and dangerous new challenges. Her quest for justice and revenge threatens to consume her and destroy her most cherished relationships. The series stars Elisabeth Moss, Yvonne Strahovski and Joseph Fiennes.

The Black Lady Sketch Show is back for a second season to bring in more dynamic entertainment this April 24, Saturday, exclusively on HBO GO.
