‘Weightlifting Fairy’ Premieres with a Swag, Wins Nationwide Ratings and Trends Worldwide

ABS-CBN’s newest Koreanovela on primetime television, “Weightlifting Fairy,” debuted with a swag as it won the ratings game nationwide and even trended on Twitter worldwide.

According to data from Kantar Media last Monday (July 10), the series scored a national TV rating of 8.5% as compared to its rival program, which only got 5%

“Weightlifting Fairy” also created a buzz on social media as the show’s official hashtag #WeightliftingFairyonABSCBN trended on Twitter worldwide.

Kim Bok Joo and her friends in the weightlifting team easily captured the hearts of netizens while others swoon over the school’s popular swimmer, Jung Joon Hyung.

“What a kilig and cute pilot episode. Love love suweeeg couple #WeightliftingFairyOnABSCBN,” @sahriexx said.

“Joon Hyung why sooooooo handsome #WeightliftingFairyOnABSCBN,” tweeted @ohhleila08.

Twitter user @zcngexx, meanwhile, shared, “Yung puso ko, hindi ko kinaya yung abs ni Joon Hyung! #WeightliftingFairyOnABSCBN.”

Fans also tweeted some notable lines from the series like “swag” and “do you like messi?” and again commended ABS-CBN for its super dubbing.

“In fairness, nice dubbing for Kim Bok Joo and Joon Hyung. The voices fit their appearance and roles #WeightliftingFairyOnABSCBN,” said @iAmFritzGian.

“Weightlifting Fairy” was a big hit in Korea that is why Pinoy Asianovela fans eagerly anticipates its PH television airing. It instantly drew loud cheers when ABS-CBN head of Integrated Acquisitions and International Distribution Leng Raymundo announced in this year’s Pinoy Media Congress that the series is one of the Asianovelas to watch out for this 2017 and also created a buzz online when ABS-CBN aired its promo plug.

The hit Korean drama features the story of Kim Bok Joo, a young lady who enters the world of weightlifting to fulfill her father’s dreams. Her lovelife, however, is on the line because not many guys like women in the weightlifting team.

One day, she meets Jung Joon Hyung, a collegiate swimmer who later on falls for her. But things get complicated because Bok Joo’s eyes are set on her weight loss doctor Jung Jae-Hyi who happens to be Joon Hyung’s brother.

Where will their love story go? When your fit as friends are you automatically fit to become lovers?
