This year’s AirAsia Travel Photographer competition was held in Macau, one of the world’s richest regions. The 6 finalists–Neil Michael Cardano, Mithilaya Miclat, Eliseo Zuniga, Kimberly Pauig, Daniel Magbanua, and Dave Poblete–were flown to this Chinese territory by AirAsia Philippines for a series of photography challenges that will decide who will win the title AirAsia Travel Photographer 2016.

The criteria for judging were as follows:

  • General Characteristics (20%) – originality, style, context and photographic vision
  • Technical Criteria (20%) – Focus/sharpness, color and or tonal rendition, lighting and contrast
  • Visual and Aesthetic Criteria (20%) – Framing and choice of viewpoint, background, design elements & principles and visual impact
  • Content (40%) – information, emotion, mood, feeling, denotative and connotative content (symbolism and metaphor), relevance, subject impact, communication through the language of photography and insight

I am supporting Mithilaya Miclat, a 25-year-old Social Entrepreneur from Davao City, to win the title. Check out her entries for the various categories of competition:
