Cyrus Villanueva’s Top 10 Performances on ‘The X Factor Australia 2015’
We listed down Cyrus Villanueva’s Top 10 performances on “The X Factor Australia” 2015 to give you an idea on why he won the title earlier today.
It’s quite rare for an “X Factor,” “Idol” or “The Voice” contestant who can make a better rendition of a song compared to the original artist who’ve sung it. Cyrus did that several times this season and some of the covers he performed sounded like it was a new song. This is because he put his own musical style to it and he himself made the arrangements.
The Fil-Aussie crooner, by the way, was the only contestant this year who did not hit bottom 2.
Here are Cyrus’ Top 10 Performances:
1. “Wicked Game” (Chris Isaak Cover, Live Show 2) – Cyrus got a full standing ovation from the panel and extended applause from the audience. His cover peaked at no. 4 of iTunes Australia’s Top 100 songs beating Justin Bieber.
Here’s the original:
2. “Dancing On My Own” (Robyn Cover, Six Chair Challenge) – This is the first time Cyrus made a deep connection to his mentor Chris Isaak. James Blunt, Danii Minogue and Guy Sebastian made a standing ovation while Isaak got teary-eyed.
Here’s the original:
3. “Rumour Has It” (Adele Cover, Live Show 5) – After getting negative feedbacks on week 4 for poor song choice, Cyrus made a massive comeback with an Adele cover.
4. “Earned It” (The Weeknd Cover, Grand Final) – This is Cyrus’ audition song and the most viewed performance this year on The X Factor Australia’s YouTube channel. He got a full standing ovation for this one just like in the auditions.
5. “Knocking on Heaven’s Door” (Bob Dylan Cover, Live Show 6) – Needless to say, Cyrus got another full standing ovation for this one.
6. “Stone” (Winner’s Single, Grand Finals) – Cyrus totally connected with the audience despite them hearing this song for the first time.
7. “Hold Back The River” (James Bay Cover, Live Show 3) – Cyrus’ take on the song was way better than the original!
Here’s the original:
8. “Boyfriend” (Justin Bieber Cover, Live Show 1) – Cyrus’ take on “Boyfriend” makes it sound like a completely different song.
9. “Is This Love” (Bob Marley Cover, Home Visits) – Cyrus’ arrangement of the song is sick! I hate the original, i love his version. And Rita Ora was smitten by his charm.
10. “Don’t” (Ed Sheeran Cover, Live Show 8) – This is the first time Cyrus tried to rap and he killed it.
