‘Felix Manalo’ is Expected to Break All Box Office Records in History of PH Cinema
The Viva Films biopic “Felix Manalo” starring versatile actor Dennis Trillo in the titular role and under the direction of Joel Lamangan is expected to break all box office records in the history of Philippine Cinema. This is because of the fact that all members of the religious group Iglesia Ni Cristo are required to watch the movie and tasked to bring a non-member with them. There are an approximate 6 to 10 million members of INC in 5,545 congregations in 102 countries around the world.
Trillo will portray the role of Felix Yzagun Manalo, the founder of Iglesia ni Cristo. He will be supported by a powerhouse cast of more than 100 actors including Gabby Concepcion, AJ Muhlach, Heart Evangelista, Snooky Serna, Gladys Reyes, Glydel Mercado, Sheryl Cruz, Joel Torre, Tonton Gutierrez, Richard Yap, Bembol Rocco, Alfred Vargas, Richard Quan, Wendell Ramos, Bobby Andrews, Elizabeth Oropesa, Alice Dixson, Ruru Madrid, Joem Bascon, Ejay Falcon, Mylene Dizon, Yul Servo, Jaclyn Jose, Arci Munoz, Eddie Guttierez, Bela Padilla, among others.
The film is a sprawling historical epic that traces the origins and growth of the Iglesia ni Cristo that was officially established here in the Philippines in 1914 through to the present day. It is framed by the life of its first Executive Minister, Felix Manalo, from the time of his birth in 1886.
The film reportedly has a budget of P150 million, the most expensive project that Viva Films has ever produced. The whole film was about 6 hours in length but a shorter version (176 minutes) will be used for the its theatrical release beginning October 7, 2015.
