Arcade Gamers Defend Earth in New ‘Pixels’ Trailer
Columbia Pictures’ new trailer for “Pixels” is here! It’s time to meet the unlikely heroes called upon to take on the aliens attacking Earth using characters from classic arcade games.
They’re none other than U.S. President Will Cooper’s (Kevin James) old-school arcade friends Sam Brenner (Adam Sandler), Ludlow Lamonsoff (Josh Gad) and Eddie “The Fire Blaster” Plant (Peter Dinklage).
As kids in the 1980s, Sam Brenner, Will Cooper, Ludlow Lamonsoff, and Eddie “The Fire Blaster” Plant saved the world thousands of times – at 25 cents a game in the video arcades. Now, they’re going to have to do it for real.
In “Pixels,” when intergalactic aliens discover video feeds of classic arcade games and misinterpret them as a declaration of war, they attack the Earth, using the video games as the models for their assaults — and now-U.S. President Cooper must call on his old-school arcade friends to save the world from being destroyed by PAC-MAN, Donkey Kong, Galaga, Centipede, and Space Invaders. Joining them is Lt. Col. Violet Van Patten (Michelle Monaghan), a specialist supplying the arcaders with unique weapons to fight the aliens.
The action adventure is directed by Chris Columbus from a story by Tim Herlihy and a screenplay by Tim Herlihy and Timothy Dowling, based on the original short film of the same name by Patrick Jean. The film is produced by Adam Sandler, Chris Columbus, Mark Radcliffe, and Allen Covert.
Opening across the Philippines in August 26, 2015, “Pixels” is distributed by Columbia Pictures, local office of Sony Pictures Releasing International.
