Pinay World Champs Luz and Gretchen Ends Friendship in ‘Most Shocking Pit Stop Exit’ on The Amazing Race History
In last Saturday’s episode of the Race, the 10 remaining teams outran each other from the Canyon Cove Resort in Nasugbu to the Basilica de San Martin de Tours in Taal, Batangas which served as the pit stop for the second leg of the race. Team Dating Couple Matthew Edwards and Phoebe Walker were first to arrive, earning them the first place for this leg and 200,000 pesos worth of cash prize from Shell V Power Nitro Plus. Team Magkapatid Jet and Yna Cruz came in close-second followed by team Nerds Vince Yu and Ed Manguan, team Chefs Roch Hernandez and Eji Estillore, and the father-son duo of team Mag-ama AJ and Jody Saliba. Meanwhile, team Blondies Tina and Avy Wells, team Mr. Pogi Kelvin Engles and John Paul Duray, team Juan D Charlie Sutcliffe and Daniel Marsh, and team Sexy Besties RR Enriquez and Jeck Maierhofer might have to beef up their strategies as they fall on the 6th, 7th, 8th and 9th places respectively.
Team Pinay World Champs Luz McClitton and Gretchen Albaniel were last to arrive, which automatically drops them from the race.
Luz and Gretchen seemed to be calm and accepting of their fate after being told by race master Derek Ramsay that they are already out of the race but what came after was unexpected even by the production staff of the multi-awarded program. Shortly after their elimination at the second pit stop inside the Basilica de San Martin de Tours in Taal, Batangas, the Pinay World Champs confronted each other. Chen called Luz lazy while Luz responded by saying that her teammate was too pushy and domineering.
By the end of the show, it was revealed that Chen and Luz have not spoken to each other since their elimination. It seems that their friendship may have been permanently damaged as Chen also came alone during the show’s launch early this month at Resorts World Manila where the teams were introduced.
Netizens and TAR fans all over the world dubbed the episode as “the most shocking and controversial pit stop episode ever,”. According to US-based website DryedMangoez.com, the episode “made history” and such pit stop exit was “never-before-seen in TAR’s 14 years of existence,”. Local fans also started an online Twitter campaign asking Luz and Chen to make up.
