2nd Trailer of ‘Dementia’ is Creepier than the First!
Horror movie “Dementia” is Percival Intalan’s first venture into filmmaking as a director. The screenplay was written by his fellow Palanca awardee Renei Dimla. It is based on a story by Jun Robles Lana, the youngest member of Carlos Palanca Memorial Awards for Literature Hall of Fame. And the main star of the movie is Asian Film Awards and Asia Pacific Screen Awards Best Actress, Nora Aunor.
With such an award-winning team, there is no doubt why “Dementia” received the highest grade of “A” from the Cinema Evaluation Board of the Philippines (CEB). And even before it screens on September 24, the film was already selected as an official entry for competition at the 35th Fantasporto International Film Festival in Portugal.
“Dementia” tells the story of a woman named Mara Fabre (Nora Aunor) who is diagnosed with the brain disease and is brought by her family to her hometown in Batanes in the hope of jogging her memory. But instead of just recalling familiar places and faces, she then starts seeing visions no one else sees. It is only her young niece, Rachel (Jasmin Curtis-Smith), who begins to wonder if what Mara sees is just a by-product of her illness or if there really is something haunting her from the past.
Also starring in the movie are Bing Loyzaga as Elaine, Yul Servo as Rommel, Chynna Ortaleza as Olivia, Althea Vega as the young Mara, Jeric Gonzales as Vincent, Lou Veloso as Papu and Lui Manansala as Ester.
“Dementia” is set to generate screams in theaters nationwide beginning Sept 24, 2014.
