37th Gawad Urian: Angeli Bayani Beats Nora Aunor and Vilma Santos
Aside from Ate Guy and Ate Vi, Best Actress winner Angeli Bayani also bested Cherie Gil (Sonata), Eugene Domingo (Instant Mommy), Rustica Carpio (Ano ang Kulay ng mga Nakalimutang Pangarap?), Agot Isidro (Mga Anino ng Kahapon), Vivian Velez (Bendor) and Lorna Tolentino (Burgos).
The Best Actor award, on the other hand, went to Joel Torre for “OTJ.” He bested Mark Gil (A Philipino Story), Mimi Juarenza (Quick Change), Sid Lucero (Norte Hangganan ng Kasaysayan), Ping Medina (Transit), Jhong Hilario (Badil) and Alex Medina (Babagwa).
PH’s Oscar entry “Transit” lost the Best Picture plum from “Norte Hangganan ng Kasaysayan.”
