‘Krusada’ Tracks Down Politicians Who Engage in Premature Campaigning

Broadcast journalist Abner Mercado will track down ‘epal’ or self-promoting politicians who engage in premature campaigning this Thursday (Oct 4) in “Krusada.”

Abner, together with the anti-epal movement led by activist Mae Paner also known as Juana Change, will take a tour around areas in Metro Manila that are lined with posters, billboards, and infrastructures bearing the names and photos of politicians.

Abner will also check on social networking sites Facebook and Twitter to examine netizens’ opinion on electioneering and the anti-epal campaign.

The mandated campaign period for the coming elections is set to start in February next year, but according to anti-epal groups, many government officials have already plastered their names and faces on posters announcing and bragging projects funded by taxpayer money.

Will politicians own up to being called ‘epal’?
