The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show 2011 Sizzles on Velvet
It will definitely be the sexiest night on television as supermodels Adriana Lima, Alessandra Ambrosio, Chanel Iman, Lily Aldridge, Doutzen Kroes, Erin Heatherton, Candice Swanepoel, Behati Prinsloo and more sashay on the runway clad only in lingerie and embellished angel’s wings. Adding the musical accompaniment to the show will be stellar performances by the biggest artists of the year—Maroon 5, Nicki Minaj and Jay-Z with Kanye West.
This year’s show is a creative interpretation of pure fantasy, divided into five glamorous themes — ballet, superheroes, passion, underwater, turn-of-the-century New Orleans. In each segment, the models emerge with elaborate costumes to accent the latest collections from Victoria’s Secret and beautiful wings. The show will also feature a fun youthful segment highlighting its Club Pink collection, made up of underwear, loungewear and pajamas.
After missing last year’s show due to her pregnancy, Miranda Kerr makes a return with the distinct honor of wearing the exquisite diamond-and-pearl-encrusted Fantasy Treasure Bra, which is worth $2.5 million. Her husband Orlando Bloom was in the front row ecstatically cheering for her. Nineteen-year-old American ballerina turned model Karlie Kloss also makes her debut as the newest angel in the show, while Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine stole a kiss from girlfriend model Anne Vyalitsyna as she strutted down the runway.
A quick review of the evening’s musical performances includes Kanye West singing his hit “Stronger,” and was joined by Jay-Z on the track “Watch the Throne.” Nicki Minaj, on the other hand, closed the show with the dance anthem “Super Bass.”3
Among the celebrities who were spotted at the event were director Michael Bay, music producer Russell Simmons, designers Alexander Wang and Donna Karan, model Tyson Beckford, actors Cuba Gooding Jr., Joe Mangianello, and Matthew Settle, singer-actress Beyonce.
The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show special on Velvet will also take viewers behind the scenes, showing the models getting ready and what happens backstage during the show.
