Sinag Pilipinas Beats Thailand, Wins SEA Games Gold

Sinag Pilipinas once again demonstrated that the Philippines is a class of its own with regards to basketball by winning the Gold medal in the Southeast Asian Games for the 25th time!

The nationals trounced Thailand, 85-57, Sunday night during the finals of the men’s basketball tournament of the 26th Southeast Asian Games (SEAG) held at Kelapa Gading Sports Mall in Jakarta.

Sinag Pilipinas, in the preliminaries, crushed Thailand with a score of 69-103. Thailand faced the unbeated Indonesian team during the knockout stage and they won, earning the right to vie against the Philippine once again but this time for the Gold medal.

Philippines (85) – Slaughter 16, Parks 15, Ryan Garcia 12, Ravena 10, Monfort 8, Tiu 6, Hodge 5, Pascual 5, Salva 2, Lanete 2, Ellis 0.

Thailand (57) – Kaedum 17, Letmaliporn 11, Sangthong 11, Kongkum 8, Apiromvilaichai 6, ghogar 2, Klahan 2, Kruatiwa 0, Jantuma Mana 0.

Quarterscores: 21-17, 44-25, 61-42, 85-57

1st. Philippines – Gold
2nd. Thailand – Silver
3rd. Indonesia – Bronze
4th. Malaysia

7th. Cambodia
8th. Myanmar

Meanwhile, Sinag’s female counterpart–Perlas Pilipinas–suffered a heartbreaking loss to Thailand, 75-73, last November 18 settling for the Silver medal.
