The Biggest Loser Pinoy Edition – Larry Lost Big to Become 1st Winner

Larry Martin was named the first grand winner of ABS-CBN’s biggest reality show “The Biggest Loser Pinoy Edition” in its grand finale Saturday (Oct 8 ) night after losing the highest weight percentage among his fellow Fab Five contenders at the final weigh-in.

The 36-year old former police officer bested Angela, Art, Hazel, and Raffy at last night’s final and live weigh-in when he registered a 39.61 weight percentage to weigh 154 lbs from 255 lbs at the start of the show last May. His closest rival Art Mendoza trailed behind with a weight loss percentage of 37.83 percent or 129 lbs to weigh 212 lbs from 341 lbs.

“I was trembling because I was always weighing myself before the finale. I knew my weight. I was only afraid of Art,” Larry said.

Raffy Tan was the night’s third Biggest Loser, who lost 100 pounds or a weight loss percentage of 34.84 percent from his initial weight. Angela Lupango and Hazel Chua finished fourth and fifth with weight loss percentages of 33.63 percent and 33.01 percent, respectively.

As the first Pinoy Biggest Loser, Larry brought home P1 million, a new condominium unit from DMCI Homes, a Vespa scooter, a 40″ Sony Bravia Internet TV, P100,000 worth of salon services, Whirlpool appliances and a lifetime Fitness First membership. He will also grace the cover of Men’s Health magazine’s November issue.

ABS-CBN chairman and CEO Eugenio Lopez III announced at the grand finale that remaining Fab 5 Art, Raffy, Hazel, and Angela would each get P500,000 as prizes.
Art also won a Vespa scooter, Whirlpool appliances, P50,000 worth of salon services, and a one-year Fitness First membership, while Raffy got a Vespa scooter, Fujidenzo Home Appliances, P25,000 worth of salon services, and a one-year Fitness First membership.

Meanwhile, Ryan Razon emerged as the At-Home winner among his fellow ex-contestants Alan, Andy, Destiny, Eboy, Edden, Eric, JM, Joy, Leigh, and Winwin after scoring a total weight loss percentage of 40.61 percent to weigh 174 lbs from 293 lbs. He won P200,000 and a one-year membership at Fitness First.

Ryan beat Alan Choachuy, who was one pound shy of beating him. Alan lost 40.45 percent of his starting weight and now weighs 184 lbs from 309 lbs before.

The Fab Five and the eleven at-home Bigating Pinoys resumed their diet and workout regimen even after leaving the camp and flaunted their slimmer figures one by one at the grand finale held at the Ynares Stadium in Pasig.

“We didn’t just present overweight contestants who lost weight and took home prizes. I hope we were able to inspire and educate people that a healthy lifestyle can be achieved,” expressed Sharon Cuneta, the host of the country’s biggest reality show.

Before the grand finale, a wellness fair was organized at the Ynares Fair Grounds and featured a health talk facilitated by the program’s resident nutritionist Nadine Tengco and workout demo by trainers Chinggay Andrada and Jim Saret.
