‘FX Love Story’ by Yeng Constantino and Pedicab, One of a Kind

In the mash-up project of Yeng Constantino's "Jeepney Love Story" and Pedicab's "FX" for the Coca-Cola music studio, the rock princess said she was surprised with the outcome as it exceeded her expectations.

“Actually hindi na kami nag-usap about ‘dun, about sa mash-up, iniwanan ko na lang sa Pedicab kung anong gusto nilang gawin. Na-surprise ako kung pa’no ‘yung kinalabasan na naiwan ‘yung lyrics ko pero nawala ‘yung pakiramdam na cute, nawala ‘yung pakiramdam na parang bumpy…ibang-iba talaga siya sa tunog ‘nung nasa album ko e. Makikita nila sa MYX sobrang iba,” she said.

The Music Uplate host said that her fans should expect the unexpected about her collaboration with rock band Pedicab because the result was one-of-a-kind and not the typical mash-up that we usually hear and see on TV or YouTube:

“I’m sure magugulat talaga sila. Sobrang magugulat talaga sila. Kasi usually kapag nag-ma-mash-up like, may mga napanood akong video sa YouTube…minsan parang pareho pa rin ang pakiramdam e, kahit kami sa ASAP Rocks, magkapareho ng genre most of the time parang tahing tahe pero eto, ‘yung ginawa ng Pedicab at ako, kasama ‘ko, kakaiba ‘to,
sobrang kakaiba ‘to, hindi siya ‘ung typical na mash-up na naririnig nila sa TV.”

For Pedicab’s five fictional members, on the other hand, the mash up with the Rock Princes is a refreshing first.

“Ang saya, parang naka-entry kami sa ibang eksena, iba ‘yung eksena ni Yeng e. Big deal ‘yun, for us,” according to lead vocalist Diego Mapa.

Arranged by “Sugar Rayms,” the two songs meld fluidly in more ways than one. It’s now called “FX Love Story” and it has a head-bangin’ road-trip feel to it.

I must say, the mash up sounded like it’s a brand new song. The acoustic vibe of Constantino’s “Jeepney Love Story” combined with the upbeat rock song “FX” with a hint of techno/hip hop elements added to it – amazing! I hope they’ll produce a special music video for this one!
