ABS-CBN’s special coverage of the much-awaited fairytale wedding of England’s Prince William and his princess-to-be Catherine “Kate” Middleton reaches its climax on Friday (April 29) with the country’s biggest network offering more than just full live coverage and hourly updates of what is dubbed as “The Royal Wedding of the Century.”
With a partnership with the largest broadcasting organization in the world British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), ABS-CBN will be the only Filipino channel to offer exclusive live commentaries on the wedding from BBC top anchor and world-renowned broadcast journalist Huw Edwards.
Edwards, the presenter of BBC’s most watched news bulletin “BBC News at Ten,” will give Filipino viewers an insider’s look at the grand event and will explain extensively the significance of the wedding to the British monarchy and the rest of the world.
Catch Edwards annotate the festivities live from the United Kingdom on free-to-air TV as early as 4pm on Studio 23. Award-winning broadcast journalist Karen Davila, meanwhile, will give special updates on ABS-CBN Channel 2 featuring reports from ABS-CBN Europe News Bureau Chief Danny Buenafe and correspondent Rose Eclarinal.
With their vast experience and established connections, Buenafe and Eclarinal are best equipped to guide viewers through the ceremonies having covered the European beat for the ABS-CBN News and Current Affairs for many years.
ABS-CBN’s coverage continues on Channel 2’s “TV Patrol,” which will air the main wedding ceremony live with anchors Noli De Castro, Ted Failon, and Korina Sanchez at 6:30pm. Viewers, meanwhile, can tune again to Studio 23 at 8:30pm for the “Iba-BALITA” special coverage on the Royal Wedding, to be anchored by Anthony Taberna. Studio 23 will also air the Main Wedding Ceremony on primetime at 9pm.
ABS-CBN’s grand special coverage also covers the network’s other platforms such as cable via ANC, the ABS-CBN News Channel, and DZMM TeleRadyo and radio over DZMM Radyo Patrol 630, to make sure no Filipino will be left out of the year’s biggest royal event.
Catch ANC’s uninterrupted coverage of William and Kate’s exchange of vows beginning 5pm on the same day with Ces Oreña Drilon and David Celdran on SkyCable ch. 27. ANC will also have a post-event special on the wedding at 7pm featuring live reports and analysis by distinguished guests.
Apart from updates, DZMM will also have a special edition of “Pasada Sais Trenta,” with Vic Lima and Karen Davila at 4:30pm. With them is a panel composed of fashion gurus and stylists and society experts who will share their thoughts on the wedding as it happens.
