‘Krusada’ Fights for Support for World-Class Artists

Karen Davila gets to know the country's other world-class artists in Krusada.

Lea Salonga, Charice Pempengco, Brillante Mendoza, and Arnel Pineda—they are just four of many Filipinos making a name around the world. As they get recognized internationally, they also boost our pride in being Filipinos.

But with all the glory they bring to the country, do they even get the support they deserve from the government?

Award-winning broadcast journalist Karen Davila gets to know the Philippines’ other world-class artists to find out if they are getting proper care and protection this Thursday (Dec 23) in “Krusada.”

In the music industry, there are the agencies such as “OPM or Original Pilipino Music” that support local artists and music, and Philscap, which guards the musicians’ intellectual property rights. But are these enough?

Get into the thick of the crusade as Davila meets bag designer Tina Ocampo, jewelry and bag designer Bea Valdes, furniture designer Kenneth Cobonpue, architect and interior designer Budji Layug, and indie film maker Emerson Reyes, who have all shone in their respective field of art.

Join Davila as she shifts the limelight to this pressing yet unnoticed issue in “Krusada” on Dec 23 (Thursday) after “Bandila” on ABS-CBN.
