Lou Diamond Phillips Wins ‘I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here!’

Fil-Am actor Lou Diamond Phillips was declared the winner of I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!

The viewers of the reality TV show chose the 47-year-old actor over former WWE star Torrie Wilson and ex-NBA player John Salley after they had spent 24 days in the jungles of Costa Rica.

“This experience has proven to be so much greater than I expected it to be,” said Phillips. “I expected it to be a competition. I expected it to be hard. What I did not expect was the emotional bonds that we’ve created, the foundation of relationships that will go on from here.”

Phillips will receive a large donation for his chosen charity, Art Has Heart, a non-profit organization that gives college scholarships to high school students in need.

Phillips was born as Lou Diamond Upchurch at the Subic Bay Naval Station in Zambales, Philippines. His father was an American of Scottish, Hawaiian, and Cherokee descent and his mother was a Filipina.

His break through to showbiz was the 1987 film La Bamba in which he played the starring role. His other films include Spin City, Courage Under Fire, Hollywood Homicide, Young Guns and Stand and Deliver.
