His American Idol are his co-finalists Chris Sligh and Rudy Cardenas.
Blake Lewis sang Seal’s “Crazy†in his Seattle audition. Simon Cowell said “You’re good. You’re just very over the top, Blake. I don’t know if you’re as good as you think you are.†Blake responded “I’m a performer. I’ve been doing it for seven years. I represent Seattle, the Emerald City.†When Simon asked Blake why he hadn’t been discovered, Blake said because he lived in Seattle and not L.A. Simon quipped “So no one from Seattle’s ever been discovered.â€
Paula Abdul said “You know what, Blake. You’re really good. You’re really talented.â€
Randy Jackson said “Uh, you know what, the beatboxing was better than the singing, but I like the singing, I just think it was the wrong song.†All three judges agreed to put Blake through to the next round.
In the Hollywood auditions, he wowed everybody through his beatboxing in his group performance with co-finalists Chris Sligh and Rudy Cardenas.
