Panky is Star Scholar for the 4th Time, Ronnie and Yeng Nominated for Expulsion

I would like to make an emphasis for the title of this post: Panky is Star Scholar for the 4th time, Ronnie and Yeng nominated for Expulsion. The first sentence is actually a question that keeps on bugging me for quite some time now. What do the judges see with Panky that i do not see? For the fourth time, Panky received the highest grade and i totally disagree. Tabi tabi sa mga fans ni Panky but i honestly feel she's not the best last Saturday night. And in fairness she's not the worst either. There's nothing new or great in her rendition of Santa Claus is Coming to Town and yet she received the highest grade of 8.99 followed by Chad with 8.93. You gotta be kidding me. The second sentence is about Ronnie and Yeng in the bottom four, or should i say, the bottom two sholars who received the lowest grades. Ronnie garnered 7.66 while Yeng received the lowest grade of 7.27. Again, you gotta be kidding me. The lowest should be Rosita because her diction in her rendition of It's Christmas All Over the World Tonight was terrible. Don't get me wrong, Rosita is one of my favorites but at least i'm objective with my comments. I watched the 11 performances for the second time on video and here's my take on last Saturday's performances:

SIZZLING HOT

Eman Abatayo – Merry Christmas Break Na Tayo
Joan Ilagan – Silent Night
Yvan Lambatan – Pasko Na Sinta Ko

HOT

Jay-R Siaboc – Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas
Ronnie Liang – Sana Ngayong Pasko
Yeng Constantino – Jingle Bells

WARM

Panky Trinidad – Santa Claus is Coming to Town
Irish Fullerton – O Holy Night

WARMING UP

Davey Langit – Miss Kita Kung Christmas
Rosita Bareng – It’s Christmas All Over the World Tonight
Chad Peralta – Do They Know It’s Christmas

Based from my assessment, my bottom four should be Chad, Davey, Irish and Rosita. Chad’s performance was better than last week but still, it’s not above average and the flats are still left unfixed. Davey’s performance is a little shaky at the beginning and the song does not complement his voice. Irish made a sexy rendition of O Holy Night, it’s an abomination (joke lang). Her high notes were not clean. And Rosita’s diction is terrible. Very karaoke tuloy ang dating.

And i must add, Panky’s performance is just mediocre. Highest grade should have been given to Yvan or Eman.

The actual grades the judges gave to the 10 scholars are as follows:

1. Panky – 8.99
2. Chad – 8.93
3. Yvan – 8.65
4. Jay-R – 8.55
5. Eman – 8.33
6. Irish – 8.27
7. Davey – 8.01
8. Rosita – 7.93
9. Ronnie – 7.66
10. Yeng – 7.27

The order should be:
1. Eman
2. Yvan
3. Joan
4. Jay-R
5. Ronnie
6. Yeng
7. Panky
8. Irish
9. Davey
10. Chad
11. Rosita

Have you seen the teachers’ reaction after each performance? You can read with their facial expressions that they like the performances of Yvan, Eman, Jay-R, Yeng and Ronnie.

What do you think?
