MAKATI, Philippines — All eyes are on the South Korean-Philippine joint film, Finding Santos even before its actual release, as the movie teaser met a warm reception from the netizens. Shared last Friday, September 12, the Instagram post containing a sneak peek of the newest project by Son Hyunwoo, with co-direction from Geong Seong Han has reached 10 Million views. Starring Jang Theo of the reality TV series Single’s Inferno and Maeg Medina of the PPop group YGIG, the romantic comedy road movie honors the 76th anniversary of diplomatic relations between South Korea and the Philippines and the 75th anniversary of the Philippine military’s participation in the Korean War.
Highlighting the message of Companionship and Togetherness, the film revolves around four main characters, Woojin, Gabi, Junha, and Lara. A forgotten Kpop icon in the industry, Woojin lives a discreet and tormented life, continuously trying to escape the tragic side of the limelight. One day, his terminally-ill grandmother expressed her last wish of finding a Filipino veteran who saved her life during the Korean War named Santos but Woojin was reluctant to make a promise. Junha, his longtime manager and bestfriend, took the request behind his back, convincing Woojin to take a trip to the Philippines and finish the journey.
As they land in their destination, Gabi, a local die-hard fan of Woojin crosses their path, along with her influencer best friend Lara. The two joined in the search under the condition that Woojin has to grant a personal wish from Gabi.
Together, the four of them embark on a trip that will not only lead them to finding a person from the past but also to finding a reason for themselves to heal and form a connection.
