Netflix announced today the March 6 premiere of The TikTok Killer, the new Netflix docuseries produced by iZen Documentales with executive producers Arantza Sánchez (Grupo iZen), César Martí (NewCo) and Santi Aguado (CAPA), will premiere on 6 March.
In 2023, Esther Estepa, a 42-year-old woman, disappears in Spain after a trip during which she crossed paths with a social media content creator. With no answers, her family and those close to her begin their own search, retracing Esther’s final steps through messages, videos, and other digital traces that remain available even after her disappearance. The story unfolds through that digital footprint, which becomes one of the few sources to shed light on what happened.
Directed by Héctor Muniente, the two-episode documentary miniseries draws on archival footage and interviews with those closest to Esther to tell an intimate, fragmented investigation one marked by uncertainty – where the digital world serves as an inadvertent archive of a real story that centers on the search for answers by those who knew her.
ABOUT THE TIKTOK KILLER
When Esther vanishes without a trace, her family is able to piece together her last movements thanks to José Jurado Montilla, a traveler who journeys across Spain sharing heartfelt videos of his trips on his TikTok account. But “Dynamite” Montilla – the last person to have been with Esther – hides a dark past.
