HBO Max rolled out new global stunt, Red Balloon Takeover – in celebration of the upcoming debut of the HBO Original series IT: Welcome to Derry on October 27 on HBO Max. Kicking off on Tuesday, October 21, the iconic red balloons from the IT universe floated into social channels, sparking global conversation around Pennywise’s impending return.
Since then, the online chatter quickly spilled into a real-world nightmare as red balloons began to pop up in major cities worldwide physically and virtually, including New York, Los Angeles, Madrid, Paris, and Cappadocia, as well as locally in Bangkok, Manila, Singapore, Taipei and Hong Kong.
