At just 19 years old, Mary Collette Santiago Tibayan is preparing to bring Filipino beauty, intelligence, and a meaningful advocacy to the international stage as she represents the Philippines at World Miss University 2026, scheduled for November 19 in Seoul, South Korea.

A second-year International Studies student at Far Eastern University (FEU) in Manila, Tibayan is set to compete in the international pageant that celebrates not only beauty and intelligence but also the role of young women in promoting peace, understanding, and positive change.
Beyond her ambition to bring home the crown, the young Filipina representative is determined to use her platform to champion a cause close to her heart: violence-free learning environments.

Her advocacy focuses on promoting student safety, mental health awareness, and a culture of respect within schools. She believes that educational institutions should be places where students feel safe, valued, and empowered to pursue their dreams without fear of violence, bullying, or discrimination.
“As an International Studies student, I learned that true peace begins at the grassroots — inside our classrooms, where we nurture ourselves as human beings,” Tibayan shared.
Her message reflects her belief that building a peaceful society begins with the way young people treat one another in everyday situations. For Tibayan, peace is not simply the absence of conflict but also the presence of kindness, understanding, and mutual respect.

Through her participation in World Miss University 2026, she hopes to encourage fellow students and young people to become advocates for safer schools and more compassionate communities.
World Miss University is an international beauty pageant established in South Korea in 1986. Unlike conventional beauty competitions, the event places particular emphasis on peace advocacy, education, and international friendship, selecting representatives who can help promote its mission of global peace.
The competition has traditionally attracted university students from different countries, providing a platform for young women to share their perspectives on social issues while celebrating cultural diversity and international understanding.
For the Philippines, the upcoming competition presents another opportunity to make its mark in the pageant’s history. Despite 4 decades of participation in the South Korea-based event, no Filipina has reportedly won the World Miss University crown.
Tibayan now hopes to make a meaningful impression on the international stage, carrying not only the Philippine flag but also a message that resonates with students around the world.
As an International Studies student, she brings an academic perspective to her advocacy, recognizing that the pursuit of peace must extend beyond international diplomacy and begin in communities, particularly in schools where young minds and future leaders are shaped.
Her participation also highlights the growing role of young Filipinas in using international pageants as platforms for social awareness and meaningful advocacy.
With the competition approaching, supporters of the young FEU student will be watching as she takes on the challenge of representing the country among university students from around the world.
Whether or not she brings home the coveted crown, Tibayan hopes her journey will inspire young people to speak up against violence, promote mental health awareness, and help create learning environments where everyone can feel safe and respected.

For Mary Collette Santiago Tibayan, representing the Philippines at World Miss University 2026 is more than a personal achievement. It is an opportunity to show that the pursuit of peace can begin with something as simple and powerful as making every classroom a safer place for everyone.
