Rising K-pop boy group AHOF is back with their second mini album, “The Passage,” a release that dives into themes of authenticity and self-discovery. The album’s launch, marked by a media showcase at Yes24 Live Hall in Seoul on Tuesday afternoon, November 4, showcased the group’s refined sound and youthful energy as they continue to mature as artists. Members Steven, Seo Jungwoo, Cha Woongki, Zhang Shuaibo, Park Han, JL, Park Juwon, and Daisuke performed the lead single “Pinocchio” live for the first time for the members of the press.

A Strong Comeback with a Clear Narrative

“The Passage” follows AHOF’s debut mini album and builds on their signature blend of bright melody lines and contemporary K-pop production. The nine-member group focuses on storytelling through both tracks and performance, inviting listeners to reflect on personal growth and the journey toward self-identity. The project features the lead single “Pinocchio Hates Lies,” a track title that signals a metaphorical exploration of truths and misunderstandings encountered on the path to becoming one’s true self.

What makes this comeback particularly noteworthy is the group’s narrative of transformation. The members spoke about honing their musicality, refining their vocal textures, and strengthening their stage presence to convey more nuanced emotions. The result is a cohesive album that balances energetic hooks with introspective moments, offering something for both casual listeners and dedicated fans.

Health-Related Absence: Chih En’s Temporary Hiatus

An important update for fans and media is the absence of Taiwanese member Chih En from this comeback. Chih En is notably absent due to health reasons, and management confirms that he will rejoin the group in the future once his condition improves. The other members and the label expressed continued support for Chih En, emphasizing their commitment to his well-being and recovery as priority.

This hiatus follows a responsible approach to group activities, ensuring that Chih En can return when he’s physically and mentally ready to participate fully. Fans have shown their understanding and continued loyalty, sending well-wishes and encouragement for Chih En’s swift and safe return to the stage.

Track Highlights and Live Performances

The album features a mix of up-tempo tracks, mid-tempo ballads, and experimental blends designed to showcase each member’s vocal harmony and rappership. The Yes24 Live Hall showcase offered a glimpse of the group’s synchronized choreography, high-energy line distribution, and the emotional nuance in their live performances. The members discussed how they approached “The Passage” both as a musical project and as a personal voyage of growth, hoping to connect more deeply with listeners as they navigate the complexities of youth.

Reception and Forward Look

Initial reception has been positive, with fans praising the album’s production quality, hooky choruses, and the maturity in the group’s artistry. According to reports, “The Passage” has already sold 22,000 in pre-sales prior to the 5:00 PM release.
