ABS-CBN, the country’s leading content provider, bagged four awards at the inaugural edition of the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting+ Awards, which recognize projects that showcase innovation and excellence in broadcasting in the areas of technology, digitalization, and engineering.
ABS-CBN News won the Broadcast Innovation award for its “OB Ranger Project†that helped the company maintain multi-camera live coverage from the field at no additional cost by repurposing old equipment considered “for disposal.â€
Meanwhile, iWantTFC was also honored with the Excellence Award for OTT Platform for meeting the changing viewing habits of audiences wherever they may be. ABS-CBN Global and the ABS-CBN Broadcast Technology team also won the Innovation Award for Cloud-Playout Migration that addressed traditional playout problems on iWantTFC while saving on operational costs.
ABS-CBN subsidiary Big Dipper, also clinched the Innovation Award for Audio Description for providing an inclusive viewing experience for hearing-impaired audiences.
Head of ABS-CBN Digital News Gathering Val Cuenca, Operations Desk editor Kerchlynn Tan, and head of ABS-CBN Media Engineering Patrick Ongchangco received the awards of ABS-CBN.
The Asia-Pacific Broadcasting+ Awards is organized by the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting that aims to “recognise companies that were able to embrace challenges as opportunities to deliver compelling experiences across multiple platforms.†The awarding ceremony was held on June 8 at the Crowne Plaza, Changi Airport in Singapore.
