The singer-songwriter builds on her previous film soundtrack work with a new single arriving October 9.
Singer-songwriter Kai Del Rio is set to release her new single, “Call Me When You’re Tired,” on all major digital streaming platforms on October 9, 2026. The track is one of three original songs she wrote for the Viu Original series Love, Siargao, starring Alden Richards and Nadine Lustre.
Currently streaming on Viu Philippines, the series also began airing on GMA Prime on September 28, 2026. “Call Me When You’re Tired” is the first of Del Rio’s three contributions to receive an independent digital release.
Produced by Migz Haleco, the single is an intimate, piano-led pop track featuring minimal production and layered vocal harmonies. The song explores the experience of being someone’s safe place and offering comfort during difficult moments, even as the emotional weight of doing so begins to take a toll.
“When I read the story brief for Love, Siargao, I wanted to explore how we sometimes get so caught up in our own problems that we forget there are people who are still willing to be there for us. I think it’s a very real kind of love. It’s not always about grand gestures or romance. Sometimes it’s just knowing there’s someone to come home to, even when everything else feels like a mess,” Del Rio shares.
Writing music for the screen is familiar territory for Del Rio. Previously known professionally as Kai Honasan, she contributed “Liwanag” to the soundtrack of the 2016 film Lakbay2Love. She also contributed two songs to the 2017 film I’m Drunk, I Love You: her original composition “Basta’t Kasama Kita” and her rendition of Cynthia Alexander’s “No Umbrella.”
“I’ve always been drawn to the more cinematic side of songwriting, and I think that’s part of why I keep finding myself drawn to writing for movies and TV. I enjoy the challenge of writing outside of myself, taking someone else’s story and finding a way to tell it through my own perspective. It’s something I definitely want to explore more. I still want the music to stand on its own, but I love that it gets to be part of something bigger,” she adds.
“Call Me When You’re Tired” will be available on all major digital streaming platforms beginning October 9, 2026.
