Remember when Marco Gallo, 25, and L.A Aguinaldo, 33, both seemed to be circling Thai actress Frayya on WINGMAN?
Eight episodes into Mediacorp’s regional dating show, that picture looks very different. Marco has found an unexpected connection with Singapore-based marketing director Yuki – while L.A and Frayya have gone from jealousy and tears to telling each other they feel like “home”. Here’s where the two Filipino actors and models now stand:
Marco and Yuki: from unrequited crush to “feels like home”
In Episode 6, Yuki, 25, nervously pulls Marco aside to confess that he is the only person in the villa who gives her butterflies – and that if she ever gets the chance to choose someone, there is only one option: him.
Marco’s reaction at the time? He admires her courage, but privately admits: “I don’t feel the same way.”
Then something shifts. By Episode 7, Marco is describing Yuki as the person he can most see a future with – and their Episode 8 cable-car date makes it clear just how far things have come.
When Marco pulls out Yuki’s chair, she responds with “grazie mille” – “a thousand thanks” in Italian, a nod to his half-Italian heritage. Marco, meanwhile, has done some homework of his own, enlisting his fellow contestants to teach him “你今天很美” (“You’re beautiful today”) in Chinese.
The flirting only escalates from there. When Yuki asks about Marco’s tattoos, he jokes that if they are going to start talking about them, he is going to have to start getting naked. Her answer? “I don’t mind, but ok.” Even Marco is caught off guard.
Asked to describe the date in three words, the pair land on two very different answers. Marco goes with “Cardio, tonight, upstairs”, prompting cheers from the villa. Yuki offers the considerably more wholesome: “Feels like home.”
Cue “Awwws” all around.
L.A and Frayya: their first big fight – followed by their closest date yet
For L.A and Frayya, 23, Episode 8 comes after their first real test. During a dating challenge, L.A is hurt when Frayya gives Marco one of her hearts, admitting that seeing her reward his “competition” bruises his ego. The disagreement leaves Frayya in tears and questioning what it means if a game can shake their relationship so easily.
She still chooses him for her next date – much to L.A’s relief. He later admits that if she hadn’t picked him, he probably would have packed his bags and left.
The catch? It is a zipline adventure, and heights are L.A’s biggest fear. With Frayya beside him, though, the only way forward is “You jump, I jump.” By the end of the date, L.A tells her that being with her feels like “home” – and admits he has never felt this way about a girl before.
Frayya reciprocates: “Every moment with him, I feel like my heart is about to jump out of my body.” She goes even further, telling L.A she trusts him more than people she has known for years.
With the love triangle seemingly resolved, could L.A and Frayya – or Marco and Yuki – now go all the way to the $20,000 prize? Four episodes remain.
