NOTEP Releases EP ‘PAKARANG’ with Focus Track ‘Purnama Flow’ – A Meditation on Ocean Memory, Lunar Guidance, and Environmental Restoration

BANGKOK/LONDON – Thai electronic artist and environmentalist NOTEP releases ‘PAKARANG’, her highly anticipated EP, out 4th September 2026 via Platoon. The six-track project arrives as the culmination of her environmental and sonic exploration established through previous singles “Radio” (22nd April 2026) and “Crystallise” (8th June 2026), expanding her vision of the interconnection between natural systems and human consciousness.

A series of immersive listening sessions, retreats, and field expeditions will accompany the EP release, creating a multisensory experience that honors both the music and the environmental mission at its core.

The EP opens with the title track “PAKARANG”, built around a field recording captured at a coral nursery in Koh Mak, Thailand, where NOTEP was helping plant corals alongside the Coral Gardeners Thailand team, directly participating in reef restoration efforts.

The composition incorporates spoken Thai words throughout, translating to: “Coral reefs are keepers of memories. An ancient promise between life and life. A reminder that nothing exists alone.” These words establish the EP’s core philosophy—that individual and natural systems are fundamentally interconnected, that separation is an illusion, and that everything exists in relationship to everything else.

“The track was created with London-based musician and fellow Platoon artist Tomos during a spontaneous writing session while he was visiting Thailand,” NOTEP adds, highlighting the cross-cultural artistic collaboration that defines the project.

“Purnama Flow” emerges as one of the EP’s emotional anchors, a meditation on intuition, movement, and surrender. Created during a full moon in Bali with producer Kookojak at his former home studio in Ubud, the track channels lunar energy and natural cycles into contemporary electronic production.

The sonic landscape combines laidback electronic grooves with atmospheric textures, grounding the track in accessible danceability whilst maintaining conceptual depth. Significantly, “Purnama Flow” samples a traditional Northern Thai song from Chiang Mai—NOTEP’s hometown—creating a direct lineage between Southeast Asian musical traditions and contemporary electronic production.

Lyrically, the track articulates its philosophy through poetic imagery: “I’m moving like water, bending like light” and “Trust in the flow and you’ll know where to go” position surrender not as passivity but as intelligent responsiveness to life’s currents.

The six-track EP builds on thematic foundations established through NOTEP’s previous singles. Where “Radio” (April 22) explored finding inner frequencies and “Crystallise” (June 8) meditated on transformation through surrender, ‘PAKARANG’ deepens the exploration of interconnection between coral reefs, ocean systems, human bodies, and consciousness itself.

Coral is the skeleton of the ocean. It is made from the same minerals that form the human body. It carries memory, strength, and life. And like the body, like the self, it does not grow under force. It grows through attunement. NOTEP’s ‘PAKARANG’ moves away from the pressure of forced growth, instead finding strength in the slow, resilient rhythms of the natural world.
