NEW YORK – Brazilian, Brooklyn-based dream-pop artist Late Again releases “All My Exes Moved to the Countryside”, out 5th August 2026. The third single from his upcoming fourth EP ‘I Dreamt I Was Awake’ (September 2026) offers a wry, deeply personal meditation on urban life, escape, and the quiet tension between aspiration and reality.

“This is exactly what the title says,” Late Again (Rafael Melo) explains. “A literal and very specific fun fact from my life that still manages to feel universal, even for those whose exes stayed in the city. Picking up where ‘To Stop the Time’ left off, the song pairs a minimalist melody and funny words with bucolic bossa nova chords from my native Brazil to sit with a quiet tension: the inability to give in to a simpler life, even when a big part of me wishes I could.”

The track explores a deceptively universal theme through intimate specificity—the gap between who we wish we could be and who we actually are. By grounding the narrative in a personal anecdote, Late Again creates space for listeners to recognize their own contradictions and compromises reflected in the song’s wry observations.

The six-track EP represents Late Again’s most ambitious work to date—a preamble to his debut album coming in 2027. It showcases a deepened observational writing style and increased compositional confidence, with each track exploring the space where lucidity and self-delusion coexist.

Recorded at Studio G (Brooklyn) and Evil Twin (São Paulo), the EP features drums from Thiago Dom (Kimbra, Duda Beat), bass lines from John Lisi (Twin Brother, John Roseboro), engineering from Nelson Espinal (Mdou Moctar, YHWH Nailgun, Sessa), and mixing from Heal Mura, his long-term Brazilian musical collaborator.

The visual world is central to the EP, materialized through a series of music videos produced under the visual direction of Gabriel Rollinos (Tame Impala, Toro y Moi, Metronomy).

Late Again is the dream-pop project of multimedia artist Rafael Melo. Born and raised on the shores of São Paulo, Rafael found in New York City a home for his music.
