It sits inside that same loop, the same overthinking, the sinking feeling, the small, faint pull trying to drag you back up, and simply reminds you: you are not alone in this.
“Breathe“, NAQT VANE’s 10th digital single, is built around exactly that state of mind, thought after thought, noise stacking on noise, with no clear signal left underneath it. The repeated phrases work like forced, controlled breathing, while fragments of thought cut across a feeling that keeps sinking, with just the faintest pull trying to drag it back up. The track never resolves any of that, and it isn’t trying to. It holds the discomfort exactly as it is, giving shape to something that’s genuinely hard to put into words.
The music video pushes the same idea further. Set in a world where even breathing isn’t allowed, it follows the group through striking, high-impact choreography, every member in special-effects makeup that matches the track’s darker tone. Recurring imagery built around breath, and moments where time itself seems to stop, run through the video, right up to its final frame.
“Breathe” is the theme song for Hulu original drama “Yagami Eiko: Ueno Chuo Police Station Organized Crime Division”, marking Meisa Kikuchi’s first leading role in 11 years. An English version follows on 21 August, for anyone who needs to hear this in a different language to feel it.
