David Young Signs Contract with Star Music

Up-and-coming artist David Young is all set to make his mark in the music scene as he signed an exclusive contract with ABS-CBN’s premier record label Star Music last Thursday (Sept. 26).ABS-CBN Music operations and creative head Jonathan Manalo, Star Music junior label head Andie Arellano, and KreativDen manager Dido Camara were present during the contract signing event held at the ABS-CBN Music Lounge.

“It feels amazing knowing I’m part of the top music family in the country. When I first met ABS-CBN Music’s creative head Jonathan Manalo, I knew this was exactly where I wanted to be. Their artists and those working behind the scenes at ABS-CBN have welcomed me with open arms, and I’m more than grateful,” he said.

The 19-year-old singer-songwriter is also preparing for his debut album which will contain several OPM covers and original songs inspired by timeless hits that he loves.“I wrote some of the songs in the album and it was inspired by the old classic tunes that I love, from Sinatra, to Elvis, to the Beatles. I believe the old sound has been making a comeback nowadays, so I’d love to experiment and turn that sound into something fresh and new. Something that a younger and older audience can love,” he shared.

As an artist, David’s passion for music was influenced by his musically inclined mother and being immersed in the diversity of the global music scene.“Ever since I was a kid, I’d sing along to what came on the radio. My mom was also a singer, so I would tag along on a few of her shows and be surrounded by the live music,” he recalled. “Watching the way our talented local and foreign musicians would perform their songs inspired me to reach that same level of connection with my audience through singing.”
