Simply put, the place for music lovers to be is at Joyland Festival Jakarta on 22-24 November 2024. If the initial lineup  that included Bombay Bicycle Club, Blueboy, MONO, Real Estate and more wasn’t enough to entice you to come to GBK  Senayan, Jakarta for the three-day festival, Plainsong Live has now announced its latest lineup that includes a couple of  huge headliners and more exciting attractions in store. 

Leading o  the announcement is Annie Clark a.k.a. St. Vincent, the iconic multi-talented American artist known for her  boundary-pushing work, her searing guitar-playing and her influence over today’s pop superstars such as Taylor Swift and  Olivia Rodrigo. “It’s a Joyland and personal milestone to bring St. Vincent to Joyland Festival Jakarta! We admire her delicate  works and are dying to see her performance in a few months,” says Ferry Dermawan, Program Director of Joyland Festival.  St. Vincent’s set will showcase her acclaimed 2024 album All Born Screaming that includes songs such as “Big Time  Nothing”, “Flea” and “Broken Man”, as well as her older classic material including “Pay Your Way in Pain”, “Digital Witness”,  “Cheerleader” and “New York”. 

Rounding out the headliners for Joyland Festival Jakarta 2024 are legendary French atmospheric pop duo Air. In addition  to performing tracks such as “La femme d’argent”, “Sexy Boy” and “Kelly Watch the Stars” as part of the celebrations for  the 25th anniversary of their seminal debut album Moon Safari, Nicolas Godin and Jean-Benoît Dunckel will also play other  highlights from across their career of almost three decades, including “Cherry Blossom Girl” and “Electronic Performers”. 

Also unveiled as part of Joyland Festival Jakarta 2024’s international lineup are Los Angeles, U.S.A.-based pop duo Bubble Tea and Cigarettes; indie rock band DYGL from Tokyo, Japan; South Korean indie rock quartet Silica Gel; and  Surprise Chef, the instrumental jazz-funk ensemble from the outskirts of Melbourne, Australia. 

Meanwhile, the Indonesian acts at Joyland Festival Jakarta 2024 will feature special performances by Efek Rumah Kaca  who are going to recreate their set from last year’s Konser Rimpang that was also promoted by Plainsong Live; Majelis  Lidah Berduri who are presenting a theatrical show centered around their upcoming album Hujan Orang Mati; and Hindia and Lomba Sihir who are joining forces as Pentas Sihir to play songs from their combined discography. Other homegrown  talents on this year’s bill so far include returning favorites such as Ali, Maliq & D’Essentials, The Adams and The S.I.G.I.T.,  along with Joyland Festival Jakarta debutants BANK and Sigmun. 

In addition, beloved Jakarta indie pop sextet White Shoes & The Couples Company will do the honors of curating the acts  on the Lily Pad Stage that will feature emerging and experimental performers from both Indonesia – including Teenage Death Star and The Panturas – and abroad, with iconic Japanese rock band The 5.6.7.8’s, South Korean scene  veteran Park Daham and the collaboration of Japanese DJs Masaya Fantasista and Mikey Varot set to rock Joyland Festival  Jakarta 2024’s most intimate stage. 

Besides the music performances, Joyland Festival Jakarta 2024 will once again feature its signature programs that contribute  to creating a fulfilling festival experience: The Shrooms Garden stage showcasing stand-up comedy talents hosted and  curated by Soleh Solihun; the Joyland Village that supports local F&B and market retailers; the family-friendly White 

Peacock area curated by Lintang Sunarta, with this year’s edition featuring facilities such as a sensory play obstacle course,  a quiet area, kids’ merchandise store and a record store, and activities including a mini-orchestra and choir, karaoke  aerobics, and theater performance; and the Cinerillaz outdoor cinema that screens short films curated for this edition by  acclaimed writer-director Joko Anwar. “I can’t wait to discover the great future talents of Indonesian cinema for Joyland  Jakarta 2024,” he says. 

Leading up to the main event, Joyland Festival Jakarta 2024 will also present a series of pre-events to build up anticipation.  This includes the debut of the Cinerillaz theater outside of Joyland that will take place in early August at Cipete Creative  District and showcase ten short movies previously screened at Joyland as selected by film programmer and longtime friend  of Joyland Alexander Matius. Also in the works are the launch of the Joyland Collection that will debut Joyland Festival  Jakarta 2024 merchandise by special collaborators, a chess tournament, and a cocktail collaboration launch party.
