Barbie Forteza Levels Up Her Acting Game in ‘Mano Po Legacy: The Family Fortune’

Kapuso Primetime Princess Barbie Forteza has been receiving positive feedback from televiewers with regards to her portrayal of the character Steffy in the GMA and Regal Entertainment’s hit drama series “Mano Po Legacy: The Family Fortune.

The primetime series is top-billed by Barbie together with veteran actresses Sunshine Cruz, Maricel Laxa, and Boots Anson-Roa. The intriguing series revolves around the members of a prominent Chinese-Filipino family after the business tycoon and leader of the clan died unexpectedly.

Joining the powerhouse cast are David Licauco, Nikki Co, Rob Gomez, and Dustin Yu together with Almira Muhlach, David Chua, Darwin Yu, and Casie Banks.

As the power struggle between Valerie (Maricel Laxa) and Cristine (Sunshine Cruz) over the family’s conglomerate intensifies, how will Joseph’s (Rob Gomez) love confession affect Steffy’s responsibilities for Christine? Tensions rise as brothers Joseph and Anton (David Licauco) continue to fall for the same girl. Will this drive the two apart? Will Consuelo (Boots Anson-Roa) succeed in protecting the family’s reputation and legacy?

During the recent blogcon for “Mano Po Legacy: The Family Fortune,” Barbie’s co-actors tagged her as a “take one actress” because she’s always on top of her game when the camera starts rolling.

“Naku syempre kapag naman napakagagaling ng mga ka-eksena mo di ba–Ms. Sunshine Cruz, Ms. Maricel Laxa–hindi ko pa po nakakasama sa eksena si Ms. Boots Anson Roa pero sana soon magkaroon, kapag meron kang eksena na ang kasama mo ay napakagagaling syempre gagawin mo ang lahat para hindi ka rin naman mapahiya di ba? Nakakatuwa lang kasi narerecognize ng ating mga napakagagaling and seasoned actresses ang ating effort sa trabaho natin so thank you so much po Ms. Sunshine Cruz, it’s such a joy working with you, grabe. Very timeless ang beauty,” she shared.

So what’s the biggest challenge for Barbie in doing the show?

“I think the biggest challenge of doing this show is doing it in the middle of the pandemic. I think it’s a bit challenge for all of us hindi lamang sa aming mga artista but even the staff and everyone sa team namin, feeling ko ‘yun naman talaga ang naging malaking challenge sa team namin para ma-accomplish namin at makagawa kami ng isang napakagandang proyekto sa gitna ng malungkot na pandemya is parang masasabi ko na malaking achievement ko kasi naging part ako ng isang napakagandang proyekto na ginawa sa napakahirap na time,” she said.

Televiewers also noticed the effortless chemistry between Barbie and newcomer Rob Gomez.

“Nakakagulat na maraming natutuwa sa team-up namin ni Rob pero nakakatuwa kasi kahit ako kapag pinapanood ko kapag ginagawa namin yung eksena, nadadala rin ako e, I think kasama na rin ‘dun ‘yung magaling na direction ni Direk Ian and the script also nakakadala rin talaga, hindi rin naman mahirap katrabaho ni Rob, magaan siya ka-work magaan siyang kasama, madaldal kaya siguro naging komportable na rin ako around him so ayun, nakakatuwa lang,” she added.

Under the helm of Director Ian Lorenos, “Mano Po Legacy: The Family Fortune” is the pilot series and first installment in the Mano Po Legacy anthology which is conceptualized by Creative Head and Head Writer Jose Javier Reyes.

Beginning this Monday, February 7, moves to an earlier timeslot after “I Left My Heart in Sorsogon.” Watch the series from Monday to Friday at 8:50pm on GMA Telebabad.
