After winning the Asian Star Prize at the 2020 Seoul International Drama Awards for his recent drama series “Descendants of the Sun” (Philippine Version), the Kapuso Primetime King Dingdong Dantes is back to the most sought-after timeslot with an interesting new project “AlterNate” where he will play a dual role for the first time.

“AlterNate” is the next episode of the I Can See You mini series and Dingdong considers his role as Michael and Nate as his most difficult project of all time.

“Ibang iba siya kasi unang beses ko pa lang gumanap ng dual role e in one narrative so ‘dun pa lang pwede mo na siya ma-imagine kung gaano ka-complicated. Mahirap siyang ikumpara sa isang nagawa ko na e so I can say na talagang ano ito, very very unique and very new for me, at least as a performer, and yeah para sa kin isa sa pinakamahirap na nagawa ko sa buong buhay ko, di lang as an actor, in all factors combined,” he said.

Dingdong’s leading lady in the series is Beauty Gonzalez who will play the role of Sheila, the wife of his character as Nate. He describes his working relationship with her as “beautiful.”

“It’s such a beautiful experience working with her, pun intended. Sabi nga niya sa umpisa siyempre may kapaan pa ng konti dahil unang beses pa lang namin literal na magkakilala in person, tapos eto kaagad medyo mahirap na…di lang mahirap pero matindi, sobrang hirap na project ang binigay, and I think ‘yung pagkahirap ng project made us more open to each other dahil matindi ‘yung requirement naging mas madali tuloy ang pagkilala namin sa isa’t-isa, dahil siyempre as actors kailangan maging mas komportable ka sa ano mo sa ka-eksena because you will be giving part of yourself e kumbaga ‘yung performance mo meron ka talagang ibinibigay na hindi lang siya basta basta material na bagay. Kailangan may complete trust and I think ‘nung umpisa pa lang na-establish namin ‘yung trust na ‘yun dahil sa kanyang openess, dahil sa kanyang professionalism, lalong lalo na sa kanyang commitment.”

“‘Yun yung pinakamahalaga ‘dun so kaya napakagandang experience talaga nito dahil nagampanan niya yung role at dahil siya ang gumanap sa role na Sheila at lalong mas naging exciting ‘yung bawat isang karakter ng show kasi syempre hindi lang naman siya about the two characters michael and nate e, it’s also about so many characters. Each character here talagang binuhay nila ‘yung bawat character ng kwento kaya mas naging ganito ka-exciting ‘yung buong narrative ng mini-series na AlterNate na mapapanood niyo sa Monday,” he said.

Also in the cast of “AlterNate” are Jackie Lou Blanco, Joyce Ching, and Ricky Davao.

Directed by Dominic Zapata, “I Can See You: AlterNate” is slated to premiere on January 10, 8:50 p.m. on GMA Telebabad.
