Celebrities Show Marriage Is Better Second (or Third) Time Around

Celebrity marriages are infamous for ending in the divorce courts. Nonetheless, while some famous names may have been unlucky in love once, twice, or even three times, they refuse to give up hope. Many stars have had two, three, or more marriages in a bid to find everlasting love. Hollywood actress and two-time Oscar winner Elizabeth Taylor was married eight times to seven different husbands, even marrying her co-star Richard Burton twice. Whatever the reason for their previous divorces, many celebrities have gone on to have wonderful, enduring marriages that could be the stuff of a romantic Hollywood movie.

Second Time A Charm

Second, celebrity marriages can be tricky, especially when there’s some baggage and the media is taking a close interest. But many celebrity couples have shown that a second marriage can be a long-lasting love. Take, for instance, Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith. It’s Will’s second marriage. His first marriage lasted three years before marrying Jada in 1997. You couldn’t imagine him with anyone else. Likewise, when George and Amal Clooney married in a huge, luxurious ceremony in Venice, it was George’s second marriage and the couple seem devoted to each other.

Second (Or Third) Marriages Better Than The First

Many celebrities have discovered that second marriages are often better than the first and less likely to end in divorce. When you enter a second marriage, you are already aware that it’s not like the movies, and the story just doesn’t end when you leave the church. While many first marriages are launched with a mega wedding, the second wedding tends to be more personal and special and focused on the years you will spend together, not place cards and expensive floral arrangements. By the time you are remarrying, you will be older, wiser and your priorities in life are more realistic.

Third Time Lucky

It takes some celebrities a little longer (and more marriages) to find their true love. Titanic actress Kate Winslet for instance, married her third husband, businessman Edward Abel Smith in 2012. Since 2010, Indiana Jones star Harrison Ford has been married to his third wife, Ally McBeal actress Calista Flockhart. However, some celebrities have tied the knot even more times than that. Pamela Anderson is enjoying marital bliss with bodyguard Dan Hayhurst who became her fifth husband in 2020. James Cameron is also onto his fifth marriage after saying “I do” with Suzy Amis Cameron in 2000. But Larry King tops the charts with eight marriages to seven different women under his belt before he died in 2021. When he passed away, the television and radio host had been enjoying married life with Shawn King for 24 years.

Just like us, celebrities hope that their marriages will last a lifetime. But if it doesn’t, many refuse to give up on finding that perfect someone to share their lives with. Even if that means tying the knot, two, three or more times.
