ABS-CBN Brings Blockbuster Filipino Movies to Cathay CineHome in Singapore

Cathay CineHome, the streaming video rental service of leading cinema operator Cathay Cineplexes in Singapore, and ABS-CBN Australia Pty. Ltd., a subsidiary of leading Filipino media and entertainment network ABS-CBN Corporation that serves international audiences, are teaming up to give fans of top-quality Filipino movies flexibility on how and when they want to watch their favorite films.

The Filipino box office hits are available for rent for as little as SGD$4.98 on Cathay Cinehome (www.cathaycinehome.com). Available films include the romantic drama Unbreakable (2019) starring Angelica Panganiban and Bea Alonzo, romantic comedy Always Be My Maybe (2016) starring Gerald Anderson and Arci Muñoz, zombie thriller Block Z (2020) starring Joshua Garcia and Julia Barretto, and the biographical drama Quezon’s Game (2018) starring Raymond Bagatsing. All films will be presented in the original Tagalog with English subtitles. More box office hits and favorite movies will be added regularly.

Additionally, as a special offer for the launch, the hit film Miss You Like Crazy (2010) starring John Lloyd Cruz and Bea Alonzo, will be available FREE to all users till 30 September 2021.

Cathay Cinehome is the digital extension of the Cathay Cineplexes, a streaming service for video-on-demand (VOD) for movies in Singapore. The streaming service was launched in 2020 to serve as a complementary platform to the cinema exhibition business, by creating additional viewing opportunities for movie lovers.

Through this collaboration with ABS-CBN Australia Pty. Ltd., Cathay Cinehome aims to offer a channel for lovers of Filipino entertainment and film that is free of membership fees and monthly subscriptions. The platform’s pay-per-view rental model provides viewers with the choice of watching their favorite shows on smart TVs, computers, tablets, and mobile devices.

“Cathay Cinehome is honored to partner with ABS-CBN Australia to offer more Filipino movies to film lovers in Singapore. Filipino films are some of the most creative and commercially successful films that are being made in the region and it is great that more people will be able to enjoy these films through the streaming service,” says mm2 Asia Group CEO, Mr. Chang Long Jong.

“ABS-CBN focuses on reinventing how we can deliver our content to Filipinos and non-Filipinos in Southeast Asia. The pandemic has tremendously changed our lifestyles and, for our audience, that includes not being able to enjoy films in movie theatres. True to ABS-CBN’s commitment to bring news and entertainment around the world, we are proud to be partnering with Cathay Cinehome with whom we share a vision of reaching as many households in Singapore,” adds Ms. Maribel Hernaez, ABS-CBN Australia’s Managing Director for the Asia Pacific.
