Multi-awarded journalist Jeff Canoy was one of the winners of the Crisis Coverage Award: Top News Personalities at the 8th Paragala: The Central Luzon Media Awards.
The ABS-CBN News anchor, reporter, and documentarist was recognized for his efforts and commitment in bringing essential and credible news and information to the public, especially in times of a health emergency.
“Talagang nakakataba po ng puso ito pong pagkilala mula sa Paragala. Salamat po sa pagsuportang ibinibigay niyo po sa ABS-CBN, sa malayang pamamahayag, gayundin sa patuloy na ibinibigay na serbisyo namin para sa mga Pilipino. Thank you po at ingat po kayong lahat,” Jeff said in the virtual awarding ceremony held last August 28.
Now on its eighth year, Holy Angel University’s Paragala dedicated this year’s awards to medical and media practitioners, the country’s unsung heroes and frontliners in this time of pandemic. A jury composed of communication faculty in Central Luzon selected this year’s winners.
Aside from covering and reporting on news events for “TV Patrol” and other ABS-CBN News platforms, Jeff has been serving the Filipino during the pandemic as one of the anchors of the TeleRadyo program “Sakto” with Amy Perez and Johnson Manabat.
The program, which features current issues, interviews with newsmakers, and discussions about relationships, health, career, and leisure, brings fun and good vibes to viewers every Monday to Friday at 6 am on TeleRadyo and Kapamilya Channel.
This new accolade adds to the recognitions Jeff has received in recent years, which include a Gold World Medal (2018) and Bronze World Medal (2020) at the New York Festivals TV and Film Awards, a Gold Dolphin at the 2018 Cannes Corporate Media and TV Awards with Chiara Zambrano, and First Prize in the English Essay category at the 2018 Carlos Palanca Memorial Awards for Literature.
