‘MMK’ Tells the Story of Filipino Female Athletes Who Raised the Philippine Flag in the Tokyo Olympics

“MMK” pays tribute to Filipino athletes Nesthy Petecio and Margielyn Didal who raised the country’s flag in the on-going Olympics in Tokyo following its re-airing of the life story of the country’s first ever Olympic gold medalist, Hidilyn Diaz, last Saturday.

This Saturday (August 7), relive the story of Nesthy, played by Jane de Leon and see how she faced the struggles to pursue her dreams of becoming a great boxer to support her family as well as the troubles she endured before snatching the silver medal in the Tokyo Olympics.

On August 21, the story of skateboarder and Asian Games gold medalist Margielyn Didal, which first aired in 2018, returns to inspire viewers once more. See how Margielyn (Elisse Joson) proved to everyone that there is no shame in taking up the sport of skateboarding and it could bring her a bright future.

Meanwhile, when her life story was re-aired last July 31, Hidilyn also shared with Charo Santos that she had to make some big sacrifices to train for the Tokyo Olympics. “Nasa isolated places kami, sinabi ng coach ko na kailangan ang isolated training kasi kailangan kong makapag-focus….matagal ko ring hindi nakasama ang family ko,” Hidilyn said. She also said that it means a lot that she achieved this feat as a woman. “Importante na ipakita sa mga Pilipino na kaya ng kababaihan na magbuhat at kaya ng kababaihan na manalo sa Olympics,” she said.

The trailer of Hidilyn Diaz’s episode even garnered 6.4 million views while the trailer for Petecio’s episode has over 200,000 views.

Don’t miss “MMK” on Kapamilya Channel at A2Z, Kapamilya Online Live YouTube channel, ABS-CBN Entertainment Facebook page, and iWantTFC. For viewers outside of the Philippines, catch it on The Filipino Channel on cable and IPTV.
