Julie Anne San Jose Teams Up with David Licauco in the Primetime Series ‘Heartful Cafe’
Back in 2018, someone asked David Licauco who he wants to become his leading lady in an upcoming project. His answer was Julie Anne San Jose. This year, the Chinito heartthrob’s wish came true as he teams up with Asia’s Pop Diva in the Kapuso network’s newest romantic series “Heartful Cafe” which is slated to premiere this Monday, April 26, on GMA Telebabad.
“Heartful Cafe” tells the story of two business owners who will become lovers. Julie Anne will play the role of Heart Fulgencio, an online romance novelist and coffee enthusiast who owns a cozy and quaint coffee shop called The Heartful Cafe. David, on the other hand, will portray the character Ace Nobleza, a competitive and goal-driven businessman who takes an interest in Heart’s cafe.
During the blogcon for the series on Thursday, April 22, Julie Anne expressed her excitement for her primetime comeback after almost a decade. Her last primetime drama series is actually “Kahit Nasaan Ka Man” which aired in 2013 and with Kristoffer Martin as her leading man.
David Licauco, on the other hand, was hesitant at first when he was offered the role because he has a business to attend to. But after learning that Julie Anne will become his leading lady for the project, it became his deciding factor in accepting the role.
“To be honest nung inoffer sa akin I was a bit hesitant kasi I was very focused sa job ko outside showbiz but then ‘nung nalaman ko na si Julie parang mas ‘uy ok to a sige pwede. Back in 2018 kasi I remember I was vocal na parang tinanong ako kung sino ‘yung gusto kong partner then sinabi ko si Julie Ann ‘yung gusto kong maging leading lady talaga sa GMA so upon knowing na siya nga ang leading lady ko I was surprised na parang dream come true,” David said.
Allan Sancon of Stars Photog asked Julie Anne her reaction to David’s revelation.
Aside from Julie Anne and David, the series will also star EA Guzman as Uno Ynares, Heart’s “TOTGA” (The One That Got Away) who returns from his studies abroad after realizing that success is hollow without love; Ayra Mariano as Mars, loyal companion of Heart who also serves as the cafe’s cashier and barista; Victor Anastacio as Roco, master barista of Heartful Cafe whose funny remarks are sure to liven up the mood; Angel Guardian as Charity Manabat, the hopeless romantic friend of Sol and Buddy who also has a crush on the latter.
Heartful Café also introduces Zonia Mejia as Sol Fulgencio, Heart’s loud and sarcastic cousin who strives to be independent yet is afraid of confronting her vulnerabilities, and Jamir Zabarte as Buddy Portales, the boy next door who likes to repair broken things and is the total opposite of Sol.
Directed by Mark Sicat Dela Cruz, “Heartful Cafe” airs on GMA-7 beginning April 26, after “First Yaya.” It will also be simultaneously aired on GMA Heart of Asia.
