New P-Pop Boy Group Alamat is Now Trending on YouTube PH

After BGYO conquered YouTube Philippines last week, a new P-pop boy group is making waves in the local music scene this week.

They’re called Alamat and this new sing-rap-dance boy group is composed of 9 members with different ethnicities namely Taneo, Mo, Jao, Kin, Tomas, R-Ji, Valfer, Gami, and Alas.

Managed by VIVA, Alamat dropped their debut single “kbye” on Valentine’s day and its corresponding music video is now trending on YouTube Philippines at no. 23 as of this posting with 261,120 views.

“k-bye” is written by the members themselves and it features 7 local languages: Tagalog, Ilocano, Kapampangan, Bicolano, Waray-Waray, Hiligaynon, and Bisaya.

Ninuno Media, the group’s creative director, shared that “ALAMAT was formed with the ‘counter-K-pop’ concept. It uses the formula of K-pop—intensive training, audiovisual music, commercial appeal, etc.—but promotes Filipino culture and sensibilities instead. Crucial to this concept is its commitment to multilingualism. The idea is, if we seek to genuinely embody the Philippines, Alamat should reflect the country’s cultural and linguistic diversity.”
