McCoy de Leon Leaves Star Magic, Joins Viva Artists Agency

New challenges, a new journey, and perhaps a reinvention–these are things that heartthrob Mccoy de Leon needs to face as he leaves Star Magic and join Viva Artists Agency. And he’s all ready and excited!

McCoy De Leon is a 25-year-old actor who appeared regularly in noontime show It’s Showtime. He first introduced himself to the public as Iñigo Cabanatan in the popular daytime rom-com series, “Be careful with my heart” way back in the year 2012. He also became a member of the boy group #Hashtags in 2015. Then later he bagged a recurring role in the country’s no. 1 primetime series “FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano.”

The #Hashtags member also appeared in several independent and mainstream movies, including “Instalado” (2017) where he won Best New Movie Actor of the Year in the 34th PMPC Star Awards for Movies, “Ang Panday” (2017), “Sin Island” (2018), “Sakaling Maging Tayo” (2019) and “G!” (2019) where he was nominated for Best Actor in the 3rd Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino Awarding ceremony. He last appeared in the 2020 hit zombie film “Block Z” alongside Julia Barretto and Joshua Garcia.

During the virtual press conference hosted by Viva on Friday, August 29, McCoy shared that with the help of his classmates he enrolled in an online class to continue his studies.

He also emphasized that he wants to make the most of his idle time during quarantine. But now that he has work, he said he will try to do both.

“‘Pag gusto may paraan,” he said.

It can’t be denied that McCoy’s popularity skyrocketed after he entered Pinoy Big Brother Celebrity Edition where he developed chemistry with fellow housemate Elisse Joson, who eventually became his love team partner. The team-up, known for the moniker “McClisse,” became one of the country’s hottest love teams. They even won the “Most Promising Loveteam” recognition at the 2017 Box Office Entertainment Awards.

Now that he’s with Viva, is he expecting a new onscreen partner or does he want to be known as a solo artist this time?

If you’re offered to do a boys love (BL) series, are you ready for such a role?

Pero siguro in time. Pero in time ‘yun, di pa siguro ngayon,” he said.

Two weeks ago, McCoy started his very own YouTube channel. What can his followers expect on his vlog in the coming weeks?

Mas gusto ko ‘yung behind the camera ‘yung meron akong subject. Tapos naisip ko, ano nga ba ako? Ano ba, saan ba ako nanggaling. So sila yung naging subject ko hanggang nakabuo na ko,” he said.
