‘It’s Showtime’ Family Reunites for ABS-CBN’s ‘Pantawid ng Pag-ibig’ Virtual Fundraiser Concert

The madlang people experienced the cheerful atmosphere of “It’s Showtime” in their homes again as the hosts of the Kapamilya noontime show joined forces to bring light and positivity during ABS-CBN’s virtual fundraising event, “Pantawid ng Pag-ibig: At-Home Together Concert” last Sunday (March 22).

The first of its kind, the campaign brought not only the “It’s Showtime” family together but also over a hundred of Kapamilya personalities to deliver musical performances and send out inspiring messages for Filipinos straight from their homes.

Many of them also encouraged viewers to extend a helping hand to those who are incapable of earning a living due to the enactment of enhanced community quarantine by donating to the “Pantawid ng Pag-ibig” fundraiser, which was launched last March 19.

By the end of the virtual fund drive, ABS-CBN was able to raise close to P237 million, which will be used to give aid such as food and basic necessities to the less fortunate through the local government units in Metro Manila.

Meanwhile, Filipinos at home couldn’t help but be sentimental over the virtual reunion of their favorite noontime family, who still emanated the precious bond that they have despite being separated by physical distance.

“Madlang people, alam ko pong tulad naming lahat kayo ay nangangamba, nalulungkot, at nababagot na. Kaya narito po kami para iparamdam sa inyo na kasama niyo po kami sa pagharap sa krisis na ito. Hindi po kayo nag-iisa,” Vice Ganda said in an opening message.

“Napakahirap na ang kalaban natin ay hindi natin nakikita, pero kung meron tayong pagmamahal sa isa’t isa, laging merong pag-asa,” Jhong Hilario added.

In a show of solidarity among Filipinos all over the world, the group also performed touching and uplifting “Magpasikat” original songs from 2019 and 2015 respectively, “Pabuhat” and “Kapit Lang.”

Twitter user @sahjhean3008 lauded #TeamShowtime and ABS-CBN’s effort to make the madlang people happy at a time like this. “#PantawidNgPagibig Iba talaga ang nabibigay saya ng Showtime… BRAVO!! Thank you, ABS… somehow, you’re giving us HOPE.”

“Gosh, naiiyak na naman ako. Showtime family is indeed amazing, I miss them. #PantawidNgPagIbig,” @joui_lyn meanwhile shared.

All of this, while the Kapamilya network is awaiting the issuance of provisional authority by the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) to continue operations past the expiry date of its current legislative franchise on May 4, 2020, pending the approval of its franchise renewal in Congress.

On the brighter side though, the “Pantawid ng Pag-Ibig” campaign is indeed a firm proof that the Kapamilya love is ever so present in these trying times.
